Power Armour Troopers

Here are some of the guys you get in the basic box of the Starship Troopers game.

They're very powerful and expensive points-wise compared to Bugs (which feels a little weird when playing because the outnumbering can be pretty scary). All have jet packs and assault rifles (with built in grenade launchers) and here we see a couple of guys with Triple Thudd Grenade Launchers - a special weapon.

I decided to copy the colour scheme from the Starship Troopers animated series (why not, I figured). That way, when I watch the show it's like watching my own guys.

Spotlight On: The Plasma Bug

Here is a really big dude.

In the game he's worth a whopping 300 points, making him the joint most expensive bug in my arsenal - that's equivalent to twenty Warrior Bugs.

He was a nice simple model to build though a little tricky to paint. I had to try a couple of times to get the blue right.

Here's a picture of his ass.

You can see the trooper in the foreground here for scale. That's one big bug!

In the game he's a long range artillery piece with plenty of wounds. And I have never used him!

I painted him during my last splurge of Starship Troopers painting a year and a half ago. But we can imagine him being good in the game. For now.

A New Blog is Born

When Andy Chambers stopped working for Games Workshop he went and wrote a particularly cool wargame based on the film, computer animated TV show and novel of Starship Troopers.

For a while they brought out a flurry of above average supplements and miniatures (and a few dodgy ones), and then the whole thing got cancelled.

Then I went a bit crazy on eBay and bought up as much of it as I could before it disappeared forever.

It's something I do VERY sporadically and probably months will pass between posts here on Starship Troopers R Us, but I was feeling a bit inspired and I wanted to set it up to remind me to dust off the miniatures and play some games. AND finish painting the enormous pile of bugs I have in the attic.

This blog isn't going to be like my others. There probably won't be any detailed battle reports here. But there will be some nice pictures from time to time and maybe a little commentary.

The picture above is a squad of Light Armour Troopers disembarking from their Skyhook Retrieval Boat. When the game came out they initially focused on Power Armour Troopers but these are the classic guys from the films.
